We are aware that there are issues with the on-line repeat prescription request service. Unfortunately, the service is provided nationally and we have little say on how it functions or appears in your internet browser. We have reported patient concerns back to the software developers when we have been told of these difficulties by patients and so hopefully changes will be made for the better.
If you do not see your medicines on the re-ordering screen, or only several of your regular items are available to select, WE HAVE NOT REMOVED YOUR MEDICINES!
When a new or existing repeat medicine is issued, a certain number of cycles or months of the prescription are now required to be authorised so we can monitor medication usage. If an item is missing from your list it means that you have used up your entire pre-authorised quota and you need to see the doctor again to check the medication is still appropriate for you and you are not having issues with it. This is for patient safety and compliance reasons and is a requirement by the government. We do realise this will cause inconvenience which we apologise for, but we are duty bound to follow this guidance. We appreciate your understanding on this.
Patients in long term medication who are eligible for repeat prescriptions can order them in a number of ways. Please note, this is for repeat prescriptions only and not one-off items.
- By Hand – drop your repeat slip in at reception with the required items clearly marked.
- By Post – send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
- Online – follow the link at the top of this page and carry out a simple registration.
If you have more than one prescription, please try and order all your items together.
In conjunction with the local pharmacies the practice now operates a repeat prescription collection system. If you choose to use this service you will need to register with the local pharmacy of your choice. Please remember to allow a little extra time for your prescription due to the time taken by the chemist to collect your prescription.
If you are receiving any medication that is not on your request form, please write this clearly on your request slip. It will be added after varification by your doctor.
If possible, enclose your computer counterfoil, which carries your code number, as this speeds up requests for prescriptions.
A medication delivery service is available from one of the local chemists, for those who are housebound. Enquire at your pharmacy for details of whether they offer this service. Please allow sufficient time for your request to be processed and delivered by the chemist.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see either a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications.
Please allow two full working days between requesting and collecting your medication. Patients relying on the postal service should allow longer.
